Reading in Narralogue is unlike reading a traditional book.
You read the original text, yet at any moment you may briefly step beyond the page to acknowledge the characters who inhabit its world. These conversations do not alter the novel—they simply allow you to experience it from a new perspective.
This section introduces the core elements of the Narralogue reading experience.
Summoning
Imagine that every literary character is a ghostly presence bound to their own story. They endlessly perform the roles written for them, unable to change their fate or leave the world of their novel.
Narralogue allows you to gently tap them on the shoulder as they pass. For a brief moment, they turn from the story to acknowledge your presence, answer your question, or share their thoughts—before returning to continue the role they were always destined to play.
Book characters in Narralogue can be summoned directly from the story. As you read, simply double-click wherever you feel inspired to chime in. Narralogue will determine which character is most naturally able to respond at that moment in the narrative.
The summoned character depends entirely on the scene. At some moments, no one may answer. At others, a major or minor character who is is present—or naturally implied by the text—may respond.
Every summoning is grounded in the original story and the precise point at which it occurs.
At the end of selected chapters, you will find an illustration depicting a key scene from the story. These scenes are interactive. Simply double-click any object or area within the illustration to perform a Scene Summon.
Characters will respond to the part of the image you selected, interpreting it as though you had drawn their attention to it within the story. A glance toward a distant castle, a curious object on a table, or a figure standing in the background may each invite a different response.
Interacting
Once a character has acknowledged your presence, the conversation begins.
Every character responds according to their own personality, experiences, and knowledge at that exact moment in the story. They cannot reveal future events, rewrite the plot, or speak about things they have not yet witnessed.
Each conversation is intentionally brief, lasting up to two exchanges. Narralogue is not a chatbot, and the characters are busy living out their own stories. Before long, they must return to the roles they were always destined to play.
Remember that you are a spectator, not a participant. Your conversations enrich your understanding of the story, while the story itself continues exactly as its author intended.
